Daen (ダーエン), formerly known as Obuchi (大淵), is a villain in Tomica Hero: Rescue Force. He first appears in Episode 14. He is portrayed by Keiichi Wada.

Personal[]

Appearance[]

Personality[]

Daen has a hatred towards humans, due to experiencing first hand how pollution has lead to disasters, and encountering man-made weapons which exploit nature. However, he was once a member of Rescue Force, and believed in saving people from disasters. He was known for developing new technology for Rescue Force to utilize.

Relationships[]

In the series[]

Obuchi is the first-generation R1 and former captain of Rescue Force, who has been corrupted by Batsu and become the leader of Neo Terror.

In the past, Obuchi had been working on the Max system, as well as the Rescue Max, however he would often hurt himself in the testing process and his experiments ended in failure.

After a mission he went on with R5 to a research lab, he discovered that energy was being used for military purposes, and that they had developed a man-made volcano. Obuchi was supposedly killed by this volcano, however he survived and was taken over by Batsu after, which amplified his hatred.

When Daen reappeared, he repaired Maare, San, and Sica and gave them new bodies. The three of them had been designed to carry out his objective from the beginning. After this, Daen made use of Terra Resetters to cause more extreme disasters.

Interacting with the second generation Rescue Force, Daen was particularly interested in Hikaru Todoroki, who took his place as the new R1.

Later, Daen set a trap for Ishiguro, pretending that a victim was trapped inside a Terra Resetter, although he was actually the victim. He seemingly intended for both he and Ishiguro to die, but Ishiguro insisted on saving him, and both survived.

Later, Daen kidnapped Naomi Okamura, as well as Ritsuko Kanzaki from the science department, and forced them to build a Terra Resetter system for him and fix his Rescue Commander. He suits up as R1 and attacks the rest of Rescue Force, but is eventually stopped by the real R1. Hikaru is able to activate the Max system, which Daen was never able to, and defeats him. After this, a light comes out of Daen's body, which was actually Batsu. Although Obuchi had been under Batsu's control, he still feels guilt for the evil he committed, because he hated humans to begin with. To destroy his base which was a giant Terra Resetter, Obuchi sacrifices his life by having it self-destruct outside the atmosphere. This allowed him to perform one final rescue.

Despite Daen's death, his personality without any of his human qualities was copied onto AI Daen, which continued to try and carry out what he'd started.

Trivia[]

  • Daen means "ellipse" in Japanese. This follows the pattern of shape puns in the names of all Neo Terror Members.
